When Samba Foundation FC comes to town, the sun always seems to follow. A bit of morning rain left the pitch in perfect condition and we were treated to another cracking match filled with goals, big moments, and brilliant football. We were also joined by Cowdenbeath manager Paul McLean and first team players Liam Watt and Raymond Reddington, which made the occasion even more special.

With £1,314 raised for Cowden in the Community, this was another day to be proud of.

First Half

The Yellows struck first. Kyle Boggie floated a lovely ball over the top for Miller, who hammered it over the keeper from a tight angle for 1-0.

The Blues responded quickly. Watt cushioned a pass into the path of Bryne, who finished well to make it 1-1. They took the lead soon after. Simpson beat his man out wide and picked out Neil, who slotted into the bottom corner for 2-1.

It was 3-1 not long after. A slick move ended with Watt finding the net after tidy link up play with J. Cairns. Cairns then turned scorer just before half time, finishing calmly after a good ball from Neil. That sent the Blues in 4-1 up at the break.

Second Half

The Yellows came out flying. Boggie played Miller in again and Miller produced a worldie from 25 yards into the top corner. A brilliant strike to make it 4-2.

The Blues hit back right away. After a scramble in the box, Rintoul smashed into the roof of the net for 5-2. Reddington then went on a driving run before slipping the ball to Mark Boggie, who curled a lovely finish into the far corner for 5-3.

Then came the moment. Bryne whipped in a perfect cross and J. Cairns met it with a sweet close range volley. It looked certain to hit the net, but Ebbs produced a miracle stop. A genuine Andy Goram style save. Unreal.

As the Yellows began to tire, the Blues took full control. Watt grabbed another after a fortunate break of the ball, before a Bryne throw evaded the defender and Mizza curled home into the far corner to complete the scoring.

Football team in yellow and blue celebrates with a trophy on a green field. Joyful mood, empty stadium seats in the background.

Highlight of the Match

James Ebbs’ outrageous save. A stop that will live long in the memory.
