We had the privilege of playing our fourth charity match at Stark’s Park, the home of Raith Rovers FC. It was a brilliant venue for the occasion and made the night even more special. This match also marked the final outing for our current kits before we unveil our new ones, kindly sponsored by Celsius Plumbing and Heating.

The weather in Kirkcaldy was perfect, with clear skies and sunshine setting the scene for a cracking match. From the first whistle it was end to end, with both teams playing some lovely football.

The Yellow team opened the scoring after McPherson’s cross caused problems and Darge turned it into his own net. Moments later, Boggie punished a loose pass and fired into the top corner for 2-0. The Blues responded well. Good work from R. Rintoul set up Andy Hamilton, who drilled into the bottom corner from distance to make it 2-1. Just before half-time, Robbo’s sharp play created space for Barrett to smash into the top corner, giving the Blues a 3-1 lead at the break.

The second half took a while to spark into life, but the next goal came when Mossman lifted a lovely ball through for D. Rintoul, who finished calmly to extend the lead. Cain then forced a save from a free kick, and although Ebbs did well to keep it out, R. Rintoul followed up to tap in for 4-2.

At the other end, Ebbs produced a superb double save, tipping one effort onto the bar to deny the Blues another goal. Yellow struck again when D. Rintoul slipped Otway through for a tidy finish. The Blues replied when Park smashed a long range strike that proved too powerful for the keeper, making it 5-3.

The closing moments captured exactly what these charity games are all about. Three of the young lads, Alfie Robertson, Jack Rintoul, and Adam Buckley, joined the action to play alongside their dads, creating memories they will never forget. The highlight of the match came when young Jack Rintoul was played through by Malone and calmly slipped the ball through the keeper’s legs to seal a 6-3 win for the Yellow team.
